“Not a tourist destination!”

Coventry Square is not a tourism destination! Don't believe any publicity that says it is. It is a million miles from being anything like as good as Freemantle Market, Melbourne's Victoria Markets or even Kalamunda Markets. There is no soul, no market atmosphere, ambience, architectural appeal, attempt to entertain or "connect" with the visitor. It is purely a retail location for locals, a cynical use of a commercial space to house a few good fruit, veg, deli outlets, surrounded by yet more nail bars, hair salons, beauty salons, souvenir shops, a few speciality shops, etc etc. All these housed in a collection of little boxes with fake faux architectural panels, facials, trims and freezes, vases, planters and ornaments which look like they been sourced from a series of garage sales. No themes, co-ordination, flair or thoughfulness. Good luck to the honest entrepreneurs and "market traders. Shame on the marketing "professionals" trying to dress a bland space as a tourist attraction.
